“Our love story began in 2004 when we were 14-year-old. We were both in the same section- Class 8th C. I was the topper of the class and he was a backbencher. Our friendship started by passing notes to each other.
He always made me smile (yes, just like in this picture). Laughing, sharing homework and assignments, that is what being in high school was all about. I welcomed seeing him every day and this back-and-forth cat and mouse, teasing, laughing, joking, talking, went on for the next few years.
In this chaotic world he became my peaceful home. Years passed. Life happened, as it does but we stayed together through thick and thin, ups and downs, sickness and health, success and failures.
Our love story never had a short distance side. More than 5 years of our relationship was long-distance but that made our love grow stronger than ever. Everyday, I would wake up excited to talk to him.
When we realised that were exactly on the same page, we told our families about us. When I broke the news to my family, they objected as I belonged to Jain community and he was a Brahmin.
When it was evident to our parents that we would not change our decision, and were truly committed in love with each other, we got married, after 3 years, on November 24, 2019. It took a while and a lot of patience, but we were glad that our families embraced us.
It’s been 1.5 years now and we still are learning new things about each other every day. We have succeeded by way of compromise, trial and error, forgiveness, honesty, hugs and respect. Also, sometimes humor because there was no other option.” said Deepika Jain
