“I found out that I was pregnant just days after getting a visa to move from India to Scotland to pursue MBA. I was battling morning sickness while preparing for my biggest exam, which fell on the day I was due to give birth.
I met my husband Hashim at high school. He was just a crush at that time but we grew closer with time. After our marriage I wanted to pursue my studies so we planned to come to UK.
I only had one exam in the whole year, and it turned out to be the day my baby was due. I couldn’t believe it. While my classmates were sweating it out in the exam room, I was already getting to know my new son.
I was heavily-pregnant, feverish and my unborn baby’s pulse was so high that medics decided to urgently opt for emergency C-section 10 days early.
After Elan was born, I was in extreme pain due to my C-section stitches but I didn’t rest for a day, with housework and university assignments. Hashim persuaded me to not give up on my academic dream and my resilience paid off.” said Jeshreena Hashim
