‘I was diagnosed with clinical depression at the tender age of almost 17 followed by facial paralysis in December, 2018. It started with body image issues due to a lot of bullying and body shaming during childhood but I never gave up. I became one of the youngest plus-sized models from Punjab.
Soon, I came to know about Maven Miss Plus Size North India, a plus size beauty pageant. Fortunately, I participated and won the pageant amongst 800 women from across North India.
With the constant support of my parents, I developed inner strength, discovered myself and took bigger steps in my career. In 2019, I walked the ramp for Rina Dhaka at Lakme Fashion Week. Since then, there has been no stopping. My zeal to become the best version of myself led me where I’m today. I work as a body positivity activist, writer, dancer, an actor and a personality development coach as well.
Three words that define the person I am today are Big, bold and beautiful. I would like to tell every woman out there to be a sister and spread love not hate. As humans, we need more lifting up and less of the opposite.’ said Shivani Tuli
