‘I belong to a very indigenous, colorful and beautiful tribe ‘Dimasa’ of Northeast. I’m the youngest YouTuber from the Northeast.
Since childhood, I have faced domestic violence, alcoholism and a lot more. I was harassed (both sexually and mentally) and I’ve been bullied for many years. People always used slangs on me like ‘Gay Faggot’ etc. I ended up being in depression for few months.
One day landed up knowing about this platform called YouTube accidentally. I also wanted to talk about LGBT rights, mental health and sexual harassment. Today, through my channel, I talk about tackling various social issues, promoting tolerance and empathy.
My work was appreciated and I was selected for the 19th international Children Film festival India as an official Delegate from the Northeast.
I want to work for my LGBT community, because we should stand proud for who we are. I hope to be a voice of Northeast and I’d like to address the problem of mental illness among youth. I look forward to a brighter future.’ said Deso Barman
